FAQs for Schools and Daycare
Yes, the Deutsches Technikmuseum is very well suited for daycare and school groups. There are many special programs you can book for your groups. But you can also explore the museum on your own. The railroad, shipping, and aviation exhibits are especially popular with children. The museum offers daily demonstrations and many hands-on areas, and at the Science Center Spectrum, children can try out more than 150 experiments related to science and technology. There's also a nice playground in the museum park where kids can run around and play.
You should plan on spending about two hours for a group visit.
Admission is free for everyone under 18 or until they complete their primary education. Please get a free online ticket.
Chaperones accompanying groups from schools or daycare centers also receive free admission. The same applies to educators who are preparing a group visit from their institution. Please be sure to get a free online ticket for this as well.
You can eat your own food at designated picnic areas. These are located both inside the museum itself and in the beautiful museum park. In addition, the main building houses the museum restaurant “Café Anhalt”; in the museum park, when the weather is nice, you can buy food and drinks at the museum café by the museum pond; and on Ladestrasse, you’ll find the museum café “TorEins” and the bistro “Tor 25.”
Yes, you can pick up a key for the special large container lockers at the information desk. The children can leave their belongings there during their visit.
Yes, our bookable programs for school classes are closely aligned with the curriculum. For preschool and elementary school groups, there are also programs at the Kids Digilab focused on early childhood digital education. You can also book a wide range of programs at the Junior Campus that explore the topics of mobility and sustainability.

Any time during opening hours is a good time to visit with groups of children. To visit the Science Center Spectrum in the morning with a group, you must book a time slot. This is not necessary at the museum itself.
