More Cycling in the City!
The exhibition "Gearing Up" in the Ladestrasse area of the Deutsches Technikmuseum is all about cycling in the city. The focus is on the rise of the bicycle as a popular means of transportation for everyone. Milestones in recent cycling history are on display: from early mountain bikes and BMX bikes to modern e-bikes and cargo bikes.
At the same time, the focus is on current conflicts on roads and footpaths. The coexistence of cars, bicycles and pedestrians has become difficult. How can the limited space in the city be distributed sensibly? What does it take to resolve the conflicts sensibly? "Gearing Up" is pointedly illustrated by the Berlin pop artist Jim Avignon. Experiment stations turn the exhibition into an interactive experience for the whole family.
An accompanying program for school classes and families complements the exhibition.
