The Stiftung Deutsches Technikmuseum Berlin offers a total of eight trainee positions in areas like curatorial affairs, education, and public relations, as well as at the Science Center Spectrum. The goal of the trainee program is to prepare university graduates for the full range of complex duties and areas of operation involved in museum work. The trainee program provides valuable support to early career scholars in the cultural sector.

Trainees must have at least a master’s degree. The field required for each specific position will be specified in the job posting.

The trainee program lasts two years. An allowance will be paid in accordance with the pay scale for the higher civil service (Höherer Dienst).

Voluntary Social Year

The Voluntary Social Year in Culture (Freiwilliges Soziales Jahr in Kultur, or FSJ Kultur) is a program for people between the ages of 16 and 27 who would like to work on a full-time, volunteer basis in a cultural institution. The FSJ Kultur gives young people the opportunity to develop their personalities, learn new skills, and gain experience in a possible future career. A high school diploma or school-leaving certificate (for example Abitur) is not required to participate in the program. It is also open to those who have completed an apprenticeship, vocational training, or a university degree.

The FSJ Kultur in Berlin is run by:

Obentrautstraße 57
10963 Berlin
Tel. 030 29668766

The FSJ Kultur begins each year on September 1, lasts twelve months, and is usually spent in one department of the Museum.

  • 25 days off for educational purposes (art, culture, administration) and 26 vacation days
  • a certificate listing the skills acquired and describing the project

At the moment we cannot offer any internships and ask you to refrain from applying. As soon as we can offer internships again, we will inform you here.

School Internship

The Stiftung Deutsches Technikmuseum Berlin offers internships to secondary school students. Due to limited capacity and the high number of applications, all spots have been taken.

Pre-Study Internship

The Stiftung Deutsches Technikmuseum Berlin offers three pre-study internships in fields like restoration and museum studies. To be accepted for a pre-study internship, it must be a requirement for beginning a university degree program. Verification of this requirement must be submitted with the application.

University Internship

We only offer internships to university students who need one to complete their degree. The length of the internship will depend on the degree requirement. Here, too, capacity is limited.
